OK, so today started week 3 & my first updated fit test since starting the program two weeks ago. I made definite improvements, but was still surprisingly out of breath after the test. LOL It's OK, there's still a loooong way to go!! I just hope I get in better shape before month 2 comes along!! Anyway, here are my results:
Day 1 Fit Test/Today
Switch Kicks: 52/52
Power Jacks: 32/41
Power Knees: 60/76
Power Jumps: 15/26
Globe Jumps: 5/8
Suicide Jumps: 10/12
Push-Up Jacks: 4/12
Low Plank Oblique: 25/40
Wow, I made great improvements in all categories except those damn switch kicks. I was confused during my first fit test about counting both legs as one rep so I actually did it twice that first day. I first wrote down 52 then did it again & put down 65, but after doing 52 today I'm gonna go with that. There was no way I did 65 my first day! LOL It's all good, we'll get there by the next fit test!!
I did my measurements & I surprisingly didn't lose that much. In total I lost one inch: 1/2 inch off of my butt (woohoo!!) and a half inch off of my left calf. Yep, just the left side. So now it's even with my right calf. Haha!! My clothes do seem to be fitting better & I feel like I look different so I was expecting to see more inches gone, but I will keep pushing forward & see what the tape measure says in a few weeks.
One other happy note to report is that I've lost 2.1 pounds since starting Insanity two weeks ago!! To some that may not sound like a lot, but to me it's a step in the right direction. My weight has been creeping up over the last several months, so to have it start to come back down as a result of this program really makes me feel good! I've been trying to follow the nutrition guide & make the right choices & that's made my body feel good, too, even if the scale doesn't show it much yet.
I bought a pair of cross-trainers today (Under Armour) so I'm curious to see if that really helps make a difference with the workout. My running shoes that I had been wearing are really worn down so hopefully that'll put a spring in my step as well. I wore them today & I think I could tell a difference. My power jumps seemed to be more like they're supposed to look & I didn't feel like I was pounding as heavy. Well, some of my landings sounded a bit hard, but I'm working on that. I looked in the mirror as I did the jumps & my knees were definitely getting above my hips better than they ever have!!
I threw in cardio abs tonight as well so that I felt like I did a little workout, too. It was a loooong, busy & stressful day at work today so it felt good to release a little pent up aggression. Hope my abs thank me for it later. :)
Coming home to Shaun T every day is something I've come to look forward to!! I missed him yesterday with my off day. :) Looking forward to week 3 & digging deeper than I have so far!!
Thanks so much for your blog. I love to see other real people doing the same thing. I'm right behind you (week 2 day 3), so I can see what is to come...ha,ha. Congrats on your weight loss. I still haven't lost anything, but haven't been perfect with my diet. Thanks again you really inspire me to keep going.... :-)
