Oh boy...and things were going so well!! Seems that I have injured myself & I'm really hoping it's not serious! I had been having a little bit of pain around the right side of my chest, but couldn't pin-point exactly where the pain was coming from. Well, the past few days it has localized itself right in the rib area. It has gotten so bad since last night that the pain is now almost constant, with frequent "stabbing" pains. It truly feels like someone is stabbing me in the side with a knife!! It hurts to cough, it hurts to take deep breaths, it hurts just to move certain directions. At first I thought it was just a muscle pull, but the symptoms are sounding like it's my rib. My dad is even afraid that it is my rib. Talked to my GYN about it today & she didn't notice any swelling, which I guess is good, but she also said that it would be weird for a healthy young person to spontaneously fracture their rib. I agree!! But it sure hurts!!!! Ugh...
So...against what my heart wants to do, I am going to take off today, and possibly the rest of the week. On the plus side it is my recovery week so I am taking it easier anyway. But on the other hand, how "funny" is it that I get injured on my recovery week!!!! I'm sure this has been building up over the last few weeks with all of my pounding, and plank work, and moving push-ups, etc...
I am really upset! I don't want to lose days or time completing the program!! I have tried my best to have correct form, to land softly, and to not over-extend anything. I did have some shoulder problems a few weeks ago, but that seems to have gone away. Let's hope this clears up quickly, too!!
Lots of ice & rest for me now! I definitely don't want to injure it any further & have my recovery time take longer, so I will be smart & not aggravate it right now. I will see how it feels tomorrow & decide then if I can workout or if I should take another day off.
This sucks...
Just an idea...I had something very similar happen twice over the past 10 years. First time, doctors found nothing. They did x-rays and everything. Pain so bad I could barely breath. They only gave me pain meds. Went away slowly over the next two weeks. Next time it happened I went to my chiropractor. Figured I might as well try something!! (and I am not one of those that go to the chiropractor all the time, or believe they can cure anything). Well...It was a rib that had slipped out of place. She fixed it and I walked out pain free. I walked in thinking I was going to die. I could hardly breath the pain was so bad. This may or may not help you, but you were explaining exactly where and how my pain was. And it would explain things. Moving like that with insanity!!! I'm sure you probably didn't break anything, but that pain sure feels like it!!!! Anyway, I just wanted to share that with you if you get desperate. It might be worth a try??? I would hate to have to stop too. You put too much into this :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info!! I will definitely keep that in mind! Well, I do have a doctor's appointment on Monday if it doesn't feel better so I will make sure they do a thorough check when I get there!! It does feel waaaay too painful to just be a sprain/strain, but hopefully that's all it is. I want it to be whatever will heal the quickest!! And I won't stop...just sidetracked for a bit! I WILL be back!! :) Thanks for the support!!
